The Weeknd’s donation enabled Suubi to complete construction of the first floor of the maternity clinic and increase its capacity of serving 56,000 people to 260,000 people.
French Montana also donated $100,000 to Suubi and launched an online campaign called #Unforgettable that has helped fund a blood bank, prematureincubators, cribs and other maternity supplies.
A few weeks ago, French Montana and Swae Lee headed to Kampala, Uganda to film their “Unforgettable” video. In the footage, you can see the locals bust out their best moves for the cameras:
While he was in Uganda for the shoot, French met a local advocate and (as a result) he pledged to build a maternity center in the East African nation. Furthermore, he has put together a global initiative to help raise funds for future maternity centers across the country.
So far, he has donated $100,000 to Mama Hope to build an expansion for the Suubi “Hope” Health Center in the rural village of Budando. He’s also encouraging both his peers, friends, and fans to do the same.
His partnership with Mama Hope has also led to him continuing his #UnforgettableDanceChallenge in an effort to get money for ambulances, premature incubators, cribs, and a blood bank (in addition to the aforementioned construction of the Suubi “Hope” Health Center expansion). Other stars, including Drake, DJ Khaled, and Diddy, have already taken their shot at it. The tally of participants is currently at over 50,000 #UnforgettableDanceChallenges around the world and counting.
