Adina, Trigmatic, Susan Augustt, Asi Renie & TommyWA join hands with Ahaban GLF for Benefit Concert.

Ahaban – The Green Leaf Foundation is set to raise funds to sustain and expand one of its flagship charitable projects – the Mobile Shelter Program.

This program provides warm meals and food boxes to hundreds of homeless and underprivileged men, women & children in the city of Accra. They do this through bimonthly food distributions, monthly food box distributions as well as clothing donations and health screening exercises. In the last four years, Ahaban together with their partners and donors have been able to distribute over 15,000 warm meals and 7000 food essential boxes.

Their target is to raise GHS 100,000 which would go into acquiring a food van to expand their donations, as well as putting up an Ahaban shelter where we’ll store donations and package the meals and boxes that go out to our beneficiaries.

This concert will which stars Adina, Trigmatic, Susan Augustt, Asi Renie & Tommy WA, will be one major step towards achieving this target. Early bird tickets are currently on sale for GHS 70.00 here – https://ayatickets.com/en/event/ahaban-benefit-concert

The concert is set to take place on Friday 19th November at Alliance Francaise.

Give Back Ghana Secures Long Term Funding

Give Back Ghana, a charity established during the COVID-19 lockdown 2020 by entrepreneur Tom Russell, has been selected to receive a further significant community engagement grant from the Grundfos Foundation.

The generous donation from the foundation founded by Poul Due Jensen, who is also the founder of Danish pump manufacturing company – Grundfos, will secure the long term future and growth of the NGO. Give Back Ghana came into existence in 2020 when Russell, entrepreneur and businessman from the United Kingdom visited Ghana to source opportunities to expand local Ghanaian businesses to the European market. Russell ended up being stranded in Ghana due to the COVID-19 lock down regulations, contrary to the 1 week intended stay that he had initially planned. In applying his entrepreneurial skills and passion for helping people, he saw the reality of this struggle and thus partnered up with local businesses to start Give Back Ghana.

Give Back Ghana aims to help the most vulnerable families in Central Accra by providing them with some basic need essentials by supplying food and sanitation boxes. Each box at an estimated value of 50 Ghana Cedis, is filled with carefully selected staple foods and sanitising products to help protect the recipients against the COVID-19 virus.

The project received international acclaim and was featured on BBC World News amongst others. Using the donation received from the Grundfos Foundation, Give Back Ghana will now expand. The project has now found a semi permanent fixed site in East Legon will begin by providing in excess of 4000 food and sanitation boxes to vulnerable families living in the informal and vulnerable communities in central Accra.

Russell commented “We are very thankful for this significant donation and proud to begin this project with Grundfos Foundation”. A strong bond between Grundfos and Give Back Ghana has been formed in particular with the acquisition of a semi permanent space which will ease and simplify the process for packing and the distribution. Our additional partnerships with Ahaban GLF, Ghandour Cosmetics, Sincerely Ghana, Les Fam and LeLe Foods come at a critical time and will provide much needed relief to families in Central Accra.

Hello Family! As we come to the end of the 3rd week of Lockdown we’d like to thank you again for all your kind donations towards our Covid19 relief efforts here in Accra (Ghana)

Our Progress

We’ve raised a total of GHs 4000.00 over the past few weeks. We’ve also received donations in the form of food items. Thank You!

Your donations went into feeding 300-400 homeless people in Accra through Christ The King Soup Kitchen.

Following a Government directive, on Thursday 16th April, we started serving all daily meals from the Efua Sutherland Children’s park under the supervision of police, military and Ministry Of Gender & Social protection who ensure the beneficiaries comply Social Distancing rules while collecting their food.

Moving Forward

There’s a possibility that the lockdown may continue. In making preparations towards that, our target is to raise an extra GHS 6000.00 to prepare food baskets with essential food items for distribution to identified families and individuals in need of help.

Thanks to our partners (Give Ghana) and your donations we’ll be able to start distributing the first 50 food boxes this weekend.

We’d like to encourage you to keep the donations coming in as we do all we can to support the homeless and less-privileged during this tough time.

NOTICE ON CHARITY PROJECTS & 5TH ANNIVERSARY ACTIVITIES

In our attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and contribute to the fight
against this global pandemic, we’ve decided to put certain measures in place
to protect both volunteers and beneficiaries of our charitable projects. As such
please take note of the following:

⁃ The Ahaban Benefit Concert has been postponed till further notice.

⁃ All Ahaban outreach programs including Mobile Shelters & Green
Camps are on hold for now. Our outreach teams do not have the
requisite protective gear to prevent the spread or detection of
COVID-19. As such it would be best to hold off on any activities
that may put our beneficiaries and volunteers at risk of being infected
or spreading the virus to others.

These measures are in line with the suggested preventive method of avoiding
gatherings that might put people at risk of spreading COVID19. As we wait for
this to blow over, we will be focusing our efforts on spreading the word on
preventive measures:

– Wash your hands frequently with soap and running water for at least
20secs.

– Use hand sanitisers as much as possible, and remember to dispose of
any tissue paper you cough or sneeze in immediately after use.

– Please call the emergency lines provided below if you experience any
of the COVID-19 symptoms.

It’s unfortunate that this global pandemic comes at a time of our 5th
anniversary, but let’s continue to look out for each other by spreading the word
of prevention, and the hope of recovery for any persons already infected.
